Solar panels produce when the sun shines. But a home needs energy most in the evening, at night and in winter. N8 Battery bridges the gap.
Chemistry
Sodium instead of lithium.
Sodium is all around us, in table salt for example. N8 Battery is built on NCO sodium-ion chemistry (sodium chromium oxide). It needs no lithium or cobalt and handles the cold well.

Built-in BMS protection and a sealed, maintenance-free design. EMC and UN 38.3 tests passed, cells tested to IEC 62619 and UL 9540A.

How much energy you can really use
It depends on the cutoff voltage set in your inverter. The lower it is, the more energy you get out of the battery.

What it costs to store 1 kWh.
Every cycle wears a battery a little. Spread the battery’s price over all the energy it will store in its lifetime. A cheap lithium battery costs about half as much, but every kWh that passes through it wears it twice as much.

Solar needs one cycle a day, which adds up to 7,300 cycles over 20 years. N8 Battery can handle 30,000. So you can cycle it several times a day and let it earn or save money in other ways too.

Electric car
Send the sunshine stored during the day to your car in the evening. A second daily cycle won’t hurt the battery.
Flexibility
Join a flexibility aggregation program, or charge during cheap hours and discharge during expensive ones. Depends on your inverter and tariff.
At two cycles a day, a lithium battery with 6,000 cycles would wear out in about 8 years. N8 Battery would use less than half of its cycles in 20 years. Age limits lifespan too, not just cycles.

What is a sodium-ion battery?
A battery that stores energy using sodium ions instead of lithium ions. N8 Battery uses NCO chemistry, sodium chromium oxide. Sodium is a common raw material and this chemistry handles the cold well.
Where can I put it?
On the floor, for example in a garage, basement or utility room. It can handle unheated spaces: it delivers power down to −40 °C and charges from 0 °C. IP55 protects it against dust and water jets. It measures 477 × 269 × 803 mm and weighs about 110 kg.
Can it charge in freezing temperatures?
The current version charges from 0 °C. We’re preparing a new generation of cells that will charge from as low as −20 °C. If you’re interested, mention it in your inquiry.
Which inverters does it work with?
48 V hybrid inverters from Victron, Deye, Solis, Growatt, Schneider Electric, SMA, Sungrow, SOFAR, Studer and Ingeteam. An installer sets up communication and settings for your specific inverter. We can verify other brands on request.
How many batteries can I connect?
Up to 15 in parallel, for up to 139.5 kWh of rated energy. The first battery controls the others.
How much energy will I actually get?
It depends on the cutoff voltage set in your inverter. At 32 V it’s about 9.3 kWh, at 42 V about 7.7 kWh. The real value varies with temperature, current and system losses.
What’s the warranty?
A 10-year limited warranty on the product and workmanship. A 20-year limited performance warranty for normal daily cycling in a home, which does not guarantee a specific remaining capacity. The design life is 25 years. The signed warranty terms apply.
Is the battery safe?
It has built-in BMS protection and a sealed, maintenance-free design. It passed EMC testing under Directive 2014/30/EU and UN 38.3, and its cells passed testing to IEC 62619 and UL 9540A. The manufacturer has issued an EU declaration of conformity for it. Testing of the complete battery to UL 9540A, UL 9540 and UL 1973 is in progress.
How much does it cost?
One 9.3 kWh battery costs €4,105 incl. VAT, which is €3,393 excl. VAT. If we supply it with installation in a family home, 12% Czech VAT applies and the battery comes to €3,800. We’ll quote installation, the inverter and other components based on your home. Euro prices are equivalents of our CZK prices, always rounded up.
